Lake Garda with the E-MTB: Pleasure in the Valle di Comano

When people think of mountain biking at Lake Garda, they often picture steep rock faces, technical trails, and crowded parking lots. But there’s another side – just ten kilometers north of Riva del Garda. In the quiet Valle di Comano, Lake Garda reveals its gentler face: softly rolling hills, charming villages – and at the center of it all: Monte Casale.

The Starting Point: Comano – Where Time Stands Still

The tour begins in the picturesque village of Comano – a place straight out of a storybook. With its old stone houses, narrow alleys, and a history that dates back to Roman times, Comano radiates a special kind of calm. Up here, far from the buzz of Lake Garda, time seems to move more slowly. That’s exactly what makes it so appealing: a relaxed start, an easygoing vibe. No traffic noise, no rush – just you, your bike, and the trail climbing toward Monte Casale.

The Ascent: Forest, Silence, and Deep Breaths

Beyond Comano begins the real climb. The path leads into a dense, cool mixed forest – your best friend in the summer heat. The forest road winds steadily uphill, perfect for finding your rhythm. It’s quiet. Incredibly quiet. No people, no E-MTB convoys, no stress. Instead: birdsong, shade, and fresh mountain air.

The Ramp: When the Trail Gets Serious

Then, in the final third of the ascent, the tone changes. The route turns into a true challenge – locals call it “the execution” – a brutal ramp with gradients of up to 26%. Here’s where the strong are separated from the stubborn. Anyone who makes it up has either serious fitness or sheer willpower. But however you get there – riding or pushing – the reward at the top makes it all worthwhile.

The Alpine Meadow: Panoramas of Brenta and Lake Garda

After that steep ramp, the landscape suddenly opens up. The forest lies behind you, and in front: lush green meadows and a horizon almost too perfect to be real. The view stretches from Lake Garda across the Sarca Valley, deep into the Brenta Dolomites, and far over the Po plain. You just stand there – silent – and take it all in.

The Summit: Goosebumps and the Don Zio Pisoni Hut

Just a few vertical meters below the Monte Casale summit lies the small Don Zio Pisoni hut. If you stop here for a break, you’ve earned it. But the grand finale is still to come: a short, punchy climb leads to the very top. And there it is – a breathtaking cliff dropping hundreds of meters straight down. The view into the Sarca Valley is not for the faint-hearted – but that’s exactly what makes this place so unique. With a bit of luck, you might see a BASE jumper or wingsuit flyer glide past. Monte Casale is one of northern Italy’s wildest jump spots. Watching them gives you chills.

The Descent: Flow, Not Frustration

The ride back to the valley begins where it all started – in the forest above Comano. But this time, it’s downhill, and much faster. The E-MTB trail runs beneath a dense canopy and winds smoothly toward the valley. No scree, no rocky sections, no hairpin obstacles like at Lake Garda – instead: grippy forest soil, natural berms, gentle waves. The trail is long, playful, and consistently moderate – ideal for simply letting it roll.

Even less experienced mountain bikers can have a blast here. No stress test for gear or nerves, just pure flow all the way back to Comano. When you reach the bottom, you realize: this tour was more than just a summit experience. It was pure, quiet joy – uphill and down.

Conclusion: More Than Just an E-MTB Tour – A True Experience

Anyone who loves Lake Garda will fall for Monte Casale. Not just for the trails themselves – but for the whole package: peace, nature, panoramic views, challenge. This tour isn’t just an outing. It’s a small journey – and a big memory.
